Did you know that the fabulous Pam Kitty Morning has her own patterns out now? I just stumbled across this on the Fat Quarter Shop - it's a kit for her new "Country Girl" bag! How exciting and just darned cute... better snatch this one up before they are all gone.

Show and Tell Time.

Just to prove that I haven't bee completely idol this Summer I have a new pattern to show!
In fact, this September I am off to the E.E. Schenck trends weekend in Portland where I will be teaching a class on my latest pattern "Blossom Bag" - the sample here uses the Bees Knees collection by Glenna Hailey for Maywood Studios. Don't you love the shadow in my picture? Yeah - I meant to do that! I have yet to take a beautiful picture of this one but this will do to show my bloggy friends.
It's a Jelly Roll slash 2 1/2" strip friendly pattern too and to make it even easier, there isn't anything but good ol' Heat-n-Bond holding that flower together! Of course I had to throw some rickrack in there because, well, honestly, I have a serious rickrack problem. It keeps springing out of the drawer and hopping up onto my cutting table. Do they have a rickrack anonymous? "Hello, my name is Cyndi and I have a rickrack addiction...."

On your mark, get set, GO!

Watch out Houston - here we come! It's official now, I have booth for the Fall Quilt Market in Houston, TX and bought my plane tickets... the point of no-return when it comes to travel. With that said, as previously noted, I have squat done. Is anyone else in this precidament? It would comfort me to no end if there were others in the same boat I am! I have always been one of those "better under pressure" people so my deepest hope is that I will magically get my butt in high gear and that not only will magical quilting elves descend upon my studio and enchant it ,but that everything made will be stunningly beautiful *insert magic fairy wand sound here please*

Last night I finished up the blocks for my current quilt in progress and will post a picture once the blocks are all together. I swear I spent an hour last night moving blocks here and there on my design wall. It's pretty scrappy and uses the new Fig Tree Quilts line from Moda, Fig & Plum, which is just gorgeous. That was my problem, there were just too many fabrics to choose from so I chose just about all of them which of course meant that scrap mayhem insued!

Sailling along

I just looked at today's date and the last time I posted - where does the time go? Away, and very quickly so it seems! As of late, ordinary non-quilty design work has taken over much of my days. Not necessarily a bad thing because regular paychecks are nice, but it certainly does cut into a girls quilting time.

Speaking of which, I have been working on the same quilt for weeks now. One that normally I would have done by now for sure. A pretty simple new jelly roll pattern - and I have to say, I'm a little on the fence about it! The blocks are all lined up on my design wall and for some reason it's just not speaking to me. Ususally about this time in the process I'm all gung-ho and here I am all of a sudden wondering if it will become a new member of the UFD (unfinsihed design) pile. I think I'll finish it because frankly this quilt has become a "Little Engine That Could" sort of moment.

On the upside though I have had a steady stream of quilt designs pouring out of me over the last few days and have a few personal favorites among the bunch. Since I'm plotting out my next book proposal, it's hard to seperate what goes into that pile for book consideration and what stays in the "can I finish it before Market?" category. All this designing has only made me want to hurry up and finish the darn quilt I have in progress so I can move on!

The Fruits of our Labor!

Here in Washington - and for that matter, OUR YARD, it's cherry season! When we purchased our house we inherited two apple trees and a beautiful cherry tree. The first year all we got was some shriveled cherry starts and some incredibly small and tart (read inedible) green apples. Well, thanks to my husband (pictured right) who chopped down the past their prime apple trees and trimmed back the cherry tree and *POOF* we have had a cherries out the wazoo for the past two years or so. This year was no exception except that this year the birds didn't get to them before we did.

{ It's pickin' time! }
Here is our nephew Mike - all 6'5" of him - helping get the high ones

{ Aren't they lovely? }
I just know that there is a quilt design in there somewhere....

{ Our bountiful reward - and we still have more on the tree! }
I have been tasked with finding the appropriate recipes to make something with these. Anyone have any good cherry recipes?

ALSO.... This is my 100th Post! There will be a contest to follow. I just have to find something juicy to give away. It can't just be any ol' thing can it?
